New Technology

New Technology is being introduced constantly. The Power and Electronics areas are in constant need of additional equipment as well as updating old equipment.

The equipment that is being requested is department-wide and is necessary to meet the requirements of the accrediting agency, The Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).We've tried to address the most pressing needs for Fall, 2002. Equipment will be used to increase the number of students that can use the equipment simultaneously and without having to come into the laboratories after hours. Over 600 students, both graduate and undergraduate and with several different majors outside the department, will be directly affected by this equipment. We need to ensure that we have adequate and working equipment since the majority of our programs are equipment intensive. ABET has indicated that equipment shortages in the Power Lab need to be addressed in their exit report. This request will address some, but not all shortages. In the electronics/computer area, digital and microprocessor systems are evolving very rapidly and we must keep current with new technology. Equipment requested for the Concrete area is needed to support the academic mission of the Concrete Industry Manangement major.
