Replacement of Existing Technology
Currently, there are 12 computers that are at least five years old that have continual conflicts with a variety of software programs such as Fortress, SPSS, Diet Analysis, and Microsoft Office. These conflicts have lead to a decrease in available student resources and computer stations while student demand has increased. In addition, incorporation of flat screen monitors will free additional work-space in the limited space available.

The HPERS department houses an open university computer lab. There were 2,618 documented student visits to the lab during the Fall, 2001 semester. Each time a student enters the lab, he/she is required to sign-in at the front desk. Computers in this lab are used by students for a number of reasons including, but not limited to, preparation of class assignments, access to the internet, accessing the library for research, thesis and dissertation preparation, scanning of documents, and accessing online class materials. The enclosed proposal will replace 12 existing PC workstations and add one Macintosh station.
