With the proliferation of 3D printing, the concrete/construction industry embraced 3D concrete printing technology to build houses and construction projects such as wells, wind turbines, fireplaces, walls, staircases, and a variety of other architectural features. Owing to the advantages of on-site assembly, reduced time and cost, and higher quality, concrete 3D printing is getting more popular by the day. As this emerging technology cements it's place in the industry so does the need to integrate 3D concrete printing into the School of Concrete and Construction Management (SCCM) curriculum. The printer would be available to all 334 SCCM majors for class technology demonstrations as well as the the school faculty that look to expand their material research capabilities in this emerging field. In addition to the growing need for 3D concrete printing in the SCCM, the printer would also be available to the 360 students in the Art and Design department as they have expanded their possible art mediums in to the world of concrete materials. 3D printing has been available in the Engineering Technology Department (ET) for a number of years and this printer would also be available to the 497 ET majors as they broaden their understanding of the possible industries in which printing technology can be utilized.
