The Department of Social Work seeks to procure Apple iPads (and accessories) for students to access during their practicum placements (a required component). Many of the students (both BSW and MSW) are encouraged by their agencies to utilize a tablet during their internship for a variety of tasks that include taking notes, attending virtual meetings, tracking hours, and making presentations. Many agencies do not provide this equipment; it is the students' responsibility to acquire it. However, students are unable to afford these items. Having this equipment available through the department to check out for their semester practicum will provide the students with the necessary tools to perform many required duties while in the field. Research indicates positive learning outcomes from incorporating media in course delivery and assessment. Students who are utilizing media within educational programs report the material reflects more relevance (Stathopoulou et al., 2019). Thus, to further develop this component within our program, the department requests the ring light, microphone, and headset items to properly and professionally create content published on university-approved outlets. The students participate in various social media projects to promote student achievement and cooperative learning assignments, as well as market and recruit for the TrueBlue Department of Social Work programs.
