We are proposing to upgrade the BAS University Computer Lab. We surveyed the 7,000+ students who visited the lab last year to guide our renovation. Based on their answers and the demand for open learning environments, we aim to create a vibrant, student-centric space that fosters collaboration, innovation, and higher learning. The key features of this renovation are student meeting room pods, collaborative technology, and flexible furniture to enhance engagement and learning. This space will be a safe space to decompress and relax, relieving stress and improving their mental health. We envision a dynamic environment beyond traditional computer labs, offering a range of innovative experiences. The new space will have meeting room pods equipped with state-of-the-art collaborative technology, providing privacy and flexibility for group discussions, work on projects, etc. The space will also offer new options for students to bring their own devices, recharge, work independently, and accommodate multiple learning styles - making the space inviting and adaptable to diverse student needs. The benefits of this new space will be manifold: enhance collaboration, adapt to multiple learning styles, privacy, and relaxation, encourage teamwork and creativity, improve learning outcomes, and attract more prospective students. By creating an environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and engagement, we will equip our students with the skills needed to excel in a rapidly changing world. The BAS University Lab serves all university students (20,000+); it is open the longest hours (7 am to midnight on most days) and is centrally located on campus.
