New Technology

While most of the proposal is for new technology, some of it, specifically the Ellison Letter Machines and several of the Ellison Die Cuts, are to replace older machines and dies that are at least ten years old, and replace knife-style paper trimmers with rotary paper trimmers.

The purpose of this proposal is to upgrade the equipment in the Audio-Visual Lab. The A-V lab is primarily used by students in the Departments of Educational Leadership, Elementary and Special Education, and Early Childhood Education; however, it is open to any student wishing to prepare instructional materials in a variety of media. The A-V Center provides support, based on the number of students with either a major or minor in the three programs, to approximately 2000 students. The materials requested represent a variety of instructional technologies. It is necessary that our students have access to these materials to meet state and national accrediting standards. Our students must have access to various instructional technologies to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of the "task to media fit" in the selection, design, and development of instructional media to facilitate a student's learning. This proposal is designed to fill in gaps in the A-V Lab's resources, expand the current holdings in the area of educational software, and replace equipment, as well as provide additional support and opportunities for any MTSU student to prepare quality instructional materials in a timely and professional manner.
