The primary discipline-specific technology required for the School of Music’s ensembles is musical instruments. We are in need of professional-level oboes and English horn bocals to provide for the needs of bands, orchestras, and chamber ensembles. The School of Music increasingly has overflow recitals and lectures for large audiences that occur in alternative spaces, such as SFA 101 and WMB 173. To better accommodate the demand to effectively use our alternative spaces for performances (and ensure we record for NASM accreditation purposes), the SoM desires to outfit both SFA 101 (Jazz Room) and WMB 173 (Instrumental Rehearsal Hall) with technology to capture performances via video/audio and be able to LiveStream them on our SoM YouTube channel, just as we do in Hinton Hall. To that end, we are requesting the addition of equipment to capture and stream video as well as high-quality audio recording and streaming from both rooms. We are also requesting the purchase of a Mac Studio for the booth in Hinton Hall to allow for 4K video processing, a feature of the current camera equipment is capable of but the current computer in the booth cannot handle.
