Replacement of Existing Technology

The age of the computers contributes to poor performance with increasing maintenance.

This proposal is to replace the computers in the open university lab housed in KOM 252/267. The computers were purchased in summer 1998 and because of performance and maintenance issues upgrading is necessary. The minimum specifications for the new machines is as follows: 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 or better, 40 GB hard drive or larger, 256 MB SDRAM (512 MB preferred), 17" monitor, Windows XP Professional, 64 MB graphics card, 48X CD drive, no speakers, 3.5" floppy drive, 250 MB Zip drive, 100 MB Ethernet NIC, standard keyboard, MS IntelliMouse, Office XP Professional (OIT license), FPROT (OIT license).
