Instructors in the Developmental Studies Department are given a choice of which computer platform they prefer: PC or Mac. The Developmental Studies Department includes areas such as math, English, reading, and study learning strategies . One platform may be advantageous over another in different areas. Certain software and training may only be available to a single platform; consequently, many instructors have chosen the platform that is best for them and their students. Trying to bring the technology into the classroom, however, can be challenging if the instructor’s computer platform differs from the one in classroom. The creation of master classrooms has been a major investment. In order to continue to get maximum benefit from this investment, the teacher stations should be able to accommodate both PC and MAC platforms.
