Replacement of Existing Technology

The four (4) HP4000 printers (3 1/2 yrs old) are nearing the end of their functional use. They have recently needed more maintenance than usual and with their continued heavy use will continue to need care.

The two Psychology dept computer labs, redisignated last year, as "Master Classrooms" need four (4) new laser printers and renewal of statistical software licensing. The master classroom designation, while seemingly not eligible for this type of equipment and software, actually comprise at least two different functional units. One, the teacher directed master classroom and, two, the student workstation master classroom. It is this latter that the two psych rooms, PH205 and PH204 fall. Student use under this setting requires two working laser printers per room and is essential to the continued technological education of our students. The statistical software is the essential software for much of the student workstation usage. This request, for the printers and software, is for use by the department's many undergraduate and graduate students. Student usage is a minimum of 450 students per semester with multiple visits by each student. Psy 302 (statistics) 130 students, Psy628&629 (grad stat) 80, Psy 307&408(research methods) 105, Psy dept laboratory courses - 70 students, Thesis analysis and individual student research 60. Usage determined based upon class rosters over the semester and polling graduate students. Also based upon polling faculty about research with undergrads and grads.
