Turning Room VIS 171 into a Master Classroom: This room is currently classified as "restricted" and houses the LAN lab. For better and more efficient space utilization, the LAN lab will be moved with other labs so that room VIS 171 can be converted into "unrestricted" classroom. As classroom space becomes scarce, the conversion will partially alleviate this problem. This room will serve students from the ETIS department as well as other departments from across campus. It is anticipated that the room will be widely used when turned into a master classroom. If approved, this Master Classroom will be the first of its kind in the west wing of the VIS building. The wing houses four classrooms and eight labs. Students enrolled in Engineering Technology courses are required by our accreditation agency, ABET, to present their work electronically to the whole class. The technology will be also used by the instructor to teach software tools (such as MultiSim, AutoCad, etc.) and to perform simulations, demonstrations, and searches during lectures. This room may serve over 500 students/year.
