To provide computer equipment for MTSU students attending classes on the Columbia State Community College campus in Columbia, Tennesee. For the 2000 calendar year, the duplicated headcount of MTSU students attending classes on the CSCC campus was 901. These students are required to pay the Technology Access Fee each semester, yet do not have access to any tangible technology benefit. Furthermore, since the students do not have CSCC student identification cards and do not pay fees to CSCC, the college is reluctant to allow MTSU students access to their labs and has mentioned charging the students and access fee. Because these students are unable to utilize the computer labs at the MTSU main campus, our proposal is to provide MTSU students attending CSCC with technology resources through a small lab of six computers and one networked printer. This will give MTSU students attending classes at CSCC the ability to email professors, type and print assignments, and access MTSU's internet site. We are also requesting a second printer to accompany a computer that the MTSU library has already placed in the CSCC library. This would allow students to print inforomation from MTSU's online library resources. It would be noted that the equipment was provided by MTSU and is designated for MTSU students. We believe that providing these computers for MTSU's off-site students would be an appropriate use of their Technology Access Fee dollars and would provide them with resources similar to those available to MTSU's Murfeesboro campus students.
