Replacement of Existing Technology

The software version currently used to support our classes does not have an e-commerce applications capability. It is essential that we upgrade our current software to the newer version as quickly as possible to allow sufficient time for teaching faculty to learn and install the software on the appropriate computers.

The recent revolution in the e-commerce arena has dictated that our students receive as much exposure to the technology supporting e-commerce as possible. One of the latest innovations in busines is the move to interface legacy COBOL-based systems with e-commerce applications. The demand for workers with this skill is growing at a very rapid rate. We currently offer an introduction and an advanced course in the COBOL language. On an annual basis we will typically have 300-320 undergraduate and 12-15 graduate students taking these courses (numbers are based on enrollment figures at the beginning of the semester).
