This request is for an LCD projector and laptop which can be used by MTSU faculty teaching at off-campus locations. Off-campus faculty almost always teach in high school classrooms or industry locations that are not equipped with any instructional technology. The LCD projector and laptop would allow professors to project multi-media presentations, web pages, and other electronic documents to the students. The request includes a lockable storage cart so that during the semester the LCD projector and laptop could be stored at the off-campus location and unlocked for use by MTSU faculty only. Undergraduate and graduate students attend classes at off-campus sites. This equipment will either be used at the Franklin or Smyrna off-campus sites. During Spring 2000, Summer 2000, and Fall 2000 semesters, over 200 students (duplicated headcount) attended class at the Franklin location and over 215 students (duplicated headcount) attended at the Smyrna location. The laptop and projector will be portable so that if classes were cancelled or moved to a new location, the equipment could also be moved. This equipment would directly benefit our off-campus students who pay technology access fees, but do not use the main campus computer labs or master classrooms.
