Replacement of Existing Technology

Outdated and inadequate

The College of MC and its three departments have united their four proposals and pooled their dollar amount limits in the Master Classroom category. The project is to upgrade and renovate the most used classroom on the MTSU campus, LRC 221. This classroom is used by four of the five colleges and at least six different departments. Many of the classes using this room are in the General Studies curriculum. Each semester thousands of students, from every part of the university, take classes in this room. This room has not been renovated nor had its technology upgraded in many years. It is hard to teach in and difficult to learn in this room. The seating is uncomfortable, the video system hard to see, and the audio system inadequate for a room of this size. The dollar amount needed to completely renovate this room is beyond the ability of TAF, even with four united proposals. However, the amount requested is enough to replace the seating, substantially upgrade the A/V system, and improve the lighting in the room.
