Master Classroom

MC 100B and 101

Murphy Center Classrooms MC 100B and 101 are needed for consolidation into an unrestricted master classroom holding approximately 90-100 individuals. Presently there are 49 sections of HLTH 1530, Health and Wellness, and larger classrooms are needed so as to decrease the number of instructors for this class. If MTSU provides a classroom that can hold 90-100 students the department can increase the number of sections which will aid the university in providing classes for the increasing number of students, or the department can lower the number of instructors needed to teach these classes. HLTH 1530 is a general education class in which the students must be exposed to technology as part of their learning experience in the 21st century. The state of the art 'clicker system' is used in all classes, while technology using other equipment that is found in a Master Classroom is also necessary. This classroom can conceivably accommodate 20 classes of 90 students for a total of 1800 students/semester. Using this method the HHP Department can serve a great number of lower division students while focusing on improving the quality of faculty for its upper division classes and the Ph.D. program as a whole.
