This proposal is being jointly submitted by Dr. Tom Cheatham and the School of Nursing (SON). Currently the CNKB building, that houses the SON, is under construction to accommodate the planned increase in enrollment in the nursing programs. As of the spring semester 2006, there are approximately 1400 declared nursing students in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. This includes 200 students enrolled in the RN to BSN program, 110 enrollees in the MSN-RODP who declare MTSU as their “home” university and 15 students in the newly developed MS-PS Informatics program. The additional space will be for classrooms, an expanded open computer lab, an updated skills lab, two seminar rooms and more office space. This project is being financially supported by the Christy Houston Foundation, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Tennessee Board of Regents. However, additional monies are needed to purchase the AV and Computer Equipment for 3 Master Classrooms (CNKB N109, N111, and N116) and two Seminar Rooms (CNKB N101 and CNKB N252). The SON has been increasing its enrollment each semester to meet the needs of the community and the national nursing shortage. The expansion of the CNKB is a welcome activity and will facilitate continued increasing enrollment
