The Mini-Lab Gas Turbine Power System is a self-contained miniature jet engine laboratory. It is a complete unit that includes appropriate sensors, computer, printer, software and stands. The unit operates on normal household electrical current and no building modifications are required. The Mini-Lab system will afford faculty opportunities to expand and develop new Experiential Learning Activities demonstrating gas turbine theory, fluids and thermodynamics. This turbine engine system will also permit Aerospace faculty, undergraduate and graduate students to conduct original research and experimentation across a broad range of design, performance and environmental issues including emissions and noise. As an integral part of several Aerospace core curriculums, this Discipline Specific Equipment will serve the entire aerospace student body inclusive of all concentrations.
