Political Science: The department has only 1 Master Classroom. A portable configuration would assist in scheduling and aid in teaching. English: English inherited PH304B when it assumed responsibility for teaching Developmental Writing (end of Developmental Studies). PH304B was configured in cubicles and wired for networked computers. We wish to renovate to a standard classroom configuration in order to house the Developmental Writing courses and other writing courses that we can schedule among the Developmental offerings. The room will be used at every class period and will house 14 students/class. It will be the primary classroom for the English Department’s Developmental Writing courses. Speech and Theatre: The department offers three General Education classes, which are held all over campus (Fall 2006=2773 students; Spring, 2007=1707 students). Fall, 2006, 41 classes were in Master Classrooms while 54 classes were in Standard Classrooms; Spring, 2007, 53 classes in Master Classrooms and 53 in Standard Classrooms. Currently there is one portable unit for the entire department. Use of portable units would enable more students to gain access to some aspects of Master Classroom technology regardless of the room. With the number of students enrolled in these classes, a significant portion would benefit from this technology.
