Sociology/Anthropology and Art request conversion of Todd 212 as our highest priority. Manufacturers are phasing out 35mm slide media/projectors. As a result, visual resources for teaching art history, anthropology, and sociology are now digital and cannot use currently installed analog projectors. Effective classroom use requires installation of 21st century media. Installation of incandescent down-lights rather than fluorescent dim-lights is necessary for quality image projection with balanced light in art history and other classes requiring extensive use of projected media. Fluorescents are particularly unsatisfactory for art history. Conversion will benefit approximately 500 students/semester in art, anthropology, and sociology courses – including a significant percentage of General Education students in classes offered by the departments. Room size with improvements will make this particularly suited for GedEd honors sections. Second priority is upgrades to the first master classroom installed in Peck Hall (PH215). Classroom is “functional”, but technology is now outdated and some components need upgrades for reliable and effective used by faculty. Upgrades will benefit approximately 600 students/semester, many in general education courses. Both rooms have infrastructure in place (climate control, network connections, furnishings, etc.). As a result, this request represents only new equipment and upgrades that will benefit a substantial number of students in a cost effective fashion.
