The project is a joint proposal from the School of Journalism and the Department of Electronic Media Communication. Current software and operating systems were last upgraded in 2005. Our software is at least two generations old creating compatibility conflicts with the integration-type software used in design and reporting. These are teaching classrooms that require the latest technology. The requested software puts all the School of Journalism’s four labs and the EMC classrooms with the current version software creating flexibility for scheduling classes that require the use of the software. The current Media Design projector is outdated and needs updating to accommodate multimedia capabilities. The projector screen replaces the current one that is damaged. We need to upgrade our aging hard drives for our XRAID drives that makes floating software licenses possible reducing our seat licensing needs, provides user reports and storage expansion. The upgrade costs for iMacs under TAF category 0 provides computers to adequately handle the software needed for multimedia production. Based on this year’s enrollment, this proposal will impact 602 EMC students, and 400 Journalism students (1,002 total).
