The University Lab at the Learning Resources Center provides students with access to 97 computers in three labs (LRC 101, LRC 101A and LRC 101B) and a graduate multimedia development center (LRC 101S) 72 hours per week. In 2007, student walk-in visits to our facilities totaled 34,445 [33% Basic and Applied, 8% Business, 17% Education/Behavioral Science, 14% Liberal Arts, 15% Mass Communication, and 13% undeclared], up 27% from 2007. Faculty from five colleges scheduled 172 one-time training sessions, benefiting 4128 students. We propose installing the GoPrint system to improve print management and reduce paper waste. Use of Macintosh computers has increased dramatically since we installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 in the fall. We propose purchasing a Macintosh file, print and DHCP server to facilitate maintenance and updating of these computers. Finally, we would like to encourage collaborative learning in the three group study rooms in LRC 101 by installing computers, software, large screen monitors, and audio equipment (for our Music Library patrons). We would also like to install TeamSpot, a software package allowing groups of students to work together on a public display screen while interacting from personal laptops, in the largest study room which seats 6-8 students.
