When approved, the Department of Art’s choices in equipment and software in this TAF proposal will permit our students to be safer when working in various areas of Todd Hall. Approving this proposal will also allow our students to be increasingly competitive as graduate school applicants and as professionals within their chosen fields. •Painting – The engraver will allow a greater flexibility in making templates and creating layer effects in encaustic painting or hot wax painting. The exhaust system will remove the fumes created by this engraver. The fumes created by this engraver are toxic and create life safety issues; especially with pregnant students and faculty using the engraver there is an absolute need for ventilation. •Graphic Design - The software and HP Color LaserJet will allow students, mainly in Graphic Design, to become familiar with up to date hardware and software that they will encounter in a work situation and to create modern portfolios they will use when seeking employment or applying to graduate school. •Sculpture - These items will help to expand the tools in the foundry and create a safer, more accessible work environment. This proposal would impact approximately 600 students.
