The Dept of Political Science has priority scheduling for three classrooms and access to one computer lab, shared with Social Work and Sociology. Many of our classes require students to access the internet & software programs to complete course work. Specifically, P S 2440 Law & Legal System, P S 3530 Legal Writing & Research, P S 4000 Quantitative Methods of Research, and P S 4300 Comparative European Gov’t, regularly need use of computers in the classroom. The advantage of having a locked cart of 36 laptops available to faculty and students is we would be able to use them not only in our two master classrooms (PH 211 and PH 212) but also in PH 208, which has no technology. Having the use of an LCD projector will also help maximize the technology usage and adds to the portability of the technology. The LCD projector would assist faculty who have classes in rooms without technology, because they will be able to connect their laptops to the projector and display Power Point presentations and more. This technology could potentially reach 1,600+ students (14 full-time professors who typically teach 4 classes each, with an average of 30 students in each class)
