Upgrade of Existing Technology

The purpose of this proposal is to upgrade and expand technology and facilities for the MTSU Debate Program Lab. This area is used exclusively by students: members of the MTSU Debate Team; students in argumentation and related classes, students enrolled in high school and college debate workshops held on campus. The supervisors of this area are graduate assistants for the MTSU Debate program. A total of 50-75 students will use this space throughout the year. With computers, a scanner, computers, laser printers awarded in a previous TAF Pool 1 awards, there are only two steps needed to complete this project. First, we need six new computers for the lab and two new laptops to replace our outdated and donated laptops used when the debaters travel. Second, we are requesting a complete master classroom renovation to: (a) make the space usable, accessible and secure at all hours; (b) remove the source of chalk dust and ceiling leaks which could damage the technology; (c) to transform the room into an around-the-clock lab and learning space for argumentation and debate students.
