University College provides MTSU students with off-campus courses at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, TN. Three departments offer courses at CSCC, either through in-person instruction or videoconferencing instruction: the Department of Elementary and Special Education offers the 2+2 Bachelor of Science in Teaching, the Department of Educational Leadership offers the Master of Education and Education Specialist, and the Math Department offers the Master of Science in Teaching. In 2010, there were 41 sections taught with 575 MTSU enrollments (duplicated headcount). These students pay Technology Access Fees, but are rarely able to receive the benefits of the investment because they usually do not attend courses on the main MTSU campus. CSCC reserves classroom Warf 107 for MTSU Courses, and we currently have a Tandberg Videoconferencing unit and one desktop computer for both MTSU videoconferencing and on-ground courses. The current videoconferencing system is over seven years old, and it does not function well as the master classroom technology for MTSU faculty teaching in the room. We propose to repurpose the current system and purchase new equipment, including television monitors, videoconferencing system, microphones, touch panel control system, cabling, and equipment racks, to provide our MTSU students and faculty with a proper Master Classroom at CSCC.
