Replacement of Existing Technology

Equipment is at the ned of life expectancy or is obsolete.

This project request incorporates a variety of packages for technology replacement, technology upgrade, and new technology. The largest portion of the request is for replacement technology. The second largest portion of the package is for technology upgrades. Only a small part of the project is for new technology. The department manages three recording studios, six laboratories and maintains stations in a seventh laboratory. Each of these studios and laboratories contains equipment that is at the end of its life expectancy, is obsolete or is in need of being upgraded. Some new technology is required to keep up with industry standards. Rather than approach the replacement, and upgrading in a haphazard manner most of the instructional technology needs have been pooled into this one request. This allows acquisition priorities to be set based on available, approved, funding rather than application guesswork. This entire request is for necessary instructional technology used in a many of classes in the Recording Industry curriculum. Specific classes are RIM 303, 370, 377, 419, 420, 429, 440, 444, 458, 459, 462, 465, 466 and 467. The total yearly enrollment of these classes is 1,200 students.
