This is a request from the Department of Electronic Media Communication. The request crosses lines in the department to cover areas of need. The Electronic Media Journalism area needs to replace news camcorders that are about 10 years old that are breaking down and cannot be repaired because the replacement parts are no longer available. The portable lighting kits are continuously damaged by students learning how to do production an d frequently lose parts and put lights in cases before the lights are cool therefore seriously damaging the instruments. We need to provide kits to those students in the news technology course so they may learn to capture images (still and motion visual plus audio)in new formats. Currently, we have none, so students have to learn with images of others and thus miss out on critical elements of image capturing and manipulation. The still cameras are to replace photojournalism cameras that are missing parts and are about 10 years old.
