We are requesting funds to renew statistical software packages, SPSS and SAS. Psychology has over 1100 undergraduate and graduate majors. All are required to take statistics and Research Methods courses. This comes to more than 500 students each year. This number includes undergraduate basic and advanced statistics courses (Psy 3020 and 4080 - 420+ students), 2 large, required graduate courses (2 sections each year of 6280 and 6290 – 100+ students) and more advanced courses. Additionally, Psychology educates a number of the doctoral students in HH&P, MSE and Literacy Studies to meet their needs for advanced quantitative/analytical skills. Psy 3020, Psy6280/6290 are required courses for all psych undergrad majors or graduate students. There are at least 6 specialty statistics courses offered once per year, for an additional 30-40 students. These software packages will meet the needs of a broad swath of students, both undergrad and graduate and both within and outside the departments of the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences.
