The Department of Sociology and Anthropology proposes to renovate PH 319 to a Master Classroom, one of only a few rooms in PH that has not yet been updated. We are currently using a technology cart, which is appreciated, but compromises a student’s view of the screen and instructor mobility. The room serves nearly 600 students in Sociology, Anthropology, and English general education and upper division courses. As the renovation will result in a loss of seating capacity to 26-28, a loss we cannot afford, once completed we are trading this room with English. They have a master classroom that seats 39 but given their pedagogical needs in general education writing classes do not have that many students on a regular basis. A trade of master classrooms would facilitate the efficient use of space for both programs. The College is also requesting on this proposal 4 wireless microphones for KOM 452 (Geoscience).
