In this workshop, you will learn about the changing research lifecycle landscape from the perspective of the researcher by taking a walk in their shoes, while also exploring opportunities that exist for gaining and/or providing support at critical intersections on the path to success. Together, we will examine real data from MTSU’s research program to glean insights and options for future enhancements.
Research Data Management (RDM) is a growing field that has recently accelerated due to new federal data sharing guidelines. This has created an increased need for all involved to better understand what researchers are experiencing, including barriers to entry and administrative overload, as they navigate the research lifecycle from grant application to data deposit, preservation, and reuse.
Join us for an open conversation with a data repository expert and GREI (NIH-backed Generalist Repository Ecosystem Initiative) Representative, as well as live demos from representatives of tools that work in tandem to fully support the RDM lifecycle. Audience participation in the conversation will be encouraged.
Outputs
· We will provide you with a researcher lifecycle checklist.
· We will provide an artifact that helps you display MTSU data in a meaningful way to your internal stakeholders.

Speaker bios
Traci Snowden is a technology professional with 14+ years of experience spanning business development, product, content, and executive leadership, serving the A&G (Academic & Government) markets. World traveler, polyglot, and tech enthusiast, she is a didactic learner and a self-described creative problem solver. Traci is dedicated to the growth and success of Mendeley Data and its participation in the Generalist Repository Ecosystem Initiative (GREI) with the NIH (National Institutes of Health), as well as ongoing Research Data Management (RDM) efforts.
Claudia Pinizzotto, as a Sales Development Representative, works with institutions to support compliance to research data sharing mandates and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles. Claudia has 6 years of experience in Neuroscience research related to Learning and Memory, where she learned how managing data can be integral to many parts of the research cycle. Claudia's professional interests include advocating for the importance of sharing data, and informing academic librarians and research leaders on how shared research data can be leveraged to increase the impact of their institutions' research.
Shannon Gordon, as a Customer Success Manager, works closely with academic libraries and provides training and guidance on Elsevier solutions Scopus and ScienceDirect. Her interest in RDM has been shaped by her 13+ years of experience as an academic librarian, where she developed a heightened awareness of the pressures faced by academic libraires to be thought leaders in specialized areas such as RDM, as well as the always evolving scholarly communication landscape. The insights gained through that work influence her current perspective, and she is excited to both participate in – and learn from – today’s session.
