Kevin McNulty's interests inside and outside of academia include film, television, animation, video games, technology, comics, pop culture and all related fields, making him ideal for teaching students in the Animation program at MTSU.

Like most children, McNulty loved animation. But he took it a few steps further and began animating plasticine clay figures using his father's VHS camera in grade school for fun and school projects.

Even though he entered undergraduate college at SUNY Geneseo undecided, his true passions rose to the surface and inadvertently guided him to double major in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Mass Media Production and Studio Art with a duel focus in Ceramics and Computer Art.

He combined these skills and entered graduate school at Rochester Institute of Technology concentrating in 3D Computer Animation. It was in graduate school that McNulty's latent love for teaching grew when he was a computer lab assistant for two different labs and co-student taught undergraduate animation classes. In 2002, before earning his degree, McNulty was offered a position teaching and running his own program in Iowa.

As part of his creative activities, McNulty loves storytelling and making animated shorts. His most recent animated short films, "Coffee" and "Tethered," have screened in film festivals around the world and earned him notoriety as an international award winning filmmaker.

McNulty is the advisor to the very active ACM SIGGRAPH Student Chapter at MTSU. He also serves on two committees within ACM SIGGRAPH: Student Chapters Liaison for the Professional and Student Chapters Committee, and the Chapters Liaison for the Education Committee.
