Middle Tennessee Administrative Professionals Educational Opportunities

Completion of courses, whether or not you are enrolled in a degree program, will help you achieve and enhance your professional and personal skill sets. There are multiple ways MTSU offers educational assistance to employees. 

MTSU, LGI, UT, and TBR Employee Fee Waiver

This program permits full-time employees (faculty, administrators/professional, and support staff) to take one credit course per term, course maximum of four hours; at MTSU or a public Tennessee institution, while continuing work responsibilities at this University. Auditing a course is allowed provided it is a credit course. A fee waiver must be completed for each term enrolled. Employees will be responsible for paying special course fees and book fees, as well as, the application fee. 

Senior Adult Discount

Persons 60 years of age or older may audit classes without tuition charges. Persons 65 years of age or older may register for classes for credit by paying a service fee not to exceed $70.00. This may be beneficial for students who wish to complete more than one class at a time. The student is responsible for paying for material, online, distance education, specialized course fees, study abroad fees, flight training fees and book fees, as well as, the application fee.

Faculty and Staff Tuition Reimbursement Program

This program is designed to provide maintenance or tuition-related fees for any regular part-time or full-time clerical and supporting staff member who has been employed for at least six months and who takes credit courses in a degree program on a part-time basis either at MTSU or another public Tennessee institution while continuing work responsibilities at this University. Reimbursement may not exceed actual maintenance or tuition-related fees for a maximum of six credit hours per semester. Tuition-related fees may include maintenance fees, registration fees, tuition, debt service fees, technology access fees, online course fees, RODP fees, service charges and incidental fees payable at the time of registration.

Employee Audit Program

This program provides course or maintenance fees for any regular part-time or full-time faculty, administrative/professional, or clerical/support staff member who takes credit courses on an audit or job-related non-credit basis at MTSU or another Board of Regents, state university or UT institution, while continuing work responsibilities at this University. To be eligible to apply, the employee must have been employed for six months. (Approval subject to departmental funds.)

Faculty or Administrative/Professional Staff Grant-In-Aid Program

In accordance with MTSU Policy 830, this program is available to any regular faculty, administrative/professional staff member who has been employed by the University for two (2) or more years. This grant is normally limited to personnel working toward the doctorate or other terminal degree; however, requests to pursue degrees below the doctoral level will be considered. (Approval subject to departmental funds.)
