ADHD Evaluation & Treatment

MTSU Student Health Services can prescribe medication for students with an established ADHD diagnosis confirmed by formal testing.

  • Students with prior testing/medication: If you were diagnosed through formal testing and previously prescribed ADHD medication (e.g., during high school), you may submit your records for review to determine eligibility for continued prescribing.
  • Students without prior testing: If you have not been formally diagnosed but would like to explore ADHD concerns, our providers can refer you for appropriate testing. Once a diagnosis is confirmed, medication prescribing may begin.

Important Information About Treatment

Because ADHD medications are controlled substances with a high potential for misuse, students must sign a treatment contract agreeing:

  • Not to share or misuse prescribed medication
  • To maintain regular follow-up visits with their clinician

Costs

  • Initial screening – 15-minute appointment – $0
  • ADHD consultation: $100, includes an EKG
  • Drug screen: $40
  • Follow-up visits: $50

Prescribing Policy

  • Prescriptions are issued one month at a time and sent electronically to the pharmacy
  • Students stable on medication may be scheduled for follow-ups every 3 months
  • Interim monthly prescriptions may be provided after student email check-ins with their clinician
  • Prescribing may be discontinued if there are concerns about effectiveness, side effects, tolerance, or contract violations

$10 Charge for No Shows

Only licensed service dogs with their handlers are allowed in the Clinic.
