The Student Health Services staff welcome you to Middle Tennessee State University. The staff includes:
Rick Chapman
Director of the Student Health Center
Rick Chapman serves as Director of the Student Health Center. Before joining the staff at MTSU, Mr. Chapman obtained his B.S. in Economics and Finance from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham where he obtained both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Health Administration. Over a period of ten years, Mr. Chapman has been employed at three different hospitals in Kentucky, and joined the MTSU Student Health Center in the fall of 2000.
Eric Clark
Medical Director
Dr. Eric Clark joined the staff at MTSU Student Health in August of 2004. He completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Tech University in 1988. After working three years in polymer engineering for Dow Chemicals in Louisiana, he attended LSU Medical College in Shreveport, LA. After medical school, Dr. Clark completed his family practice residency at the University of Tennessee-Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was in private practice in Murfreesboro for six years prior to joining MTSU. He is board certified in family practice.
Devi Newcomb
University Physician
Dr. Devi Newcomb joined the staff at MTSU Student Health in 2011. She completed her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at Michigan Technological University in 1989. After working almost three years for Rockwell Space Operations Company in Houston, Texas, she attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. After medical school, she completed a transitional internship at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC before serving five years as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force. In 2004, she completed her family practice residency at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. She practiced in Lewisburg and Chapel Hill, Tennessee for seven years prior to joining MTSU. She is board certified in family practice and serves in the Air National Guard in Nashville, Tennessee.
Aruna Shah
University Physician
Dr. Aruna Shah joined the staff in 2009. She completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Boston College and her doctorate from St. George’s University Medical School. After medical school Dr. Shah completed Family Practice residency at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She worked in private practice in Kingsport, Tennessee for four and a half years prior to joining MTSU. She is board certified in family practice.
Rebecca Cleere
University Physician
Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr. Rebecca Cleere received her undergraduate degree at King’s College London and her medical degree at University College London. After moving to Murfreesboro in 2013, she completed her residency in Family Medicine at University of Tennessee and joined MTSU Health Services in 2019. Her clinical interests include women’s health and dermatology. Dr. Cleere currently lives in Nashville with her two children and enjoys international travel, gardening, playing piano and spending time with loved ones.
Lady Hamilton
Nurse Practitioner
Lady Hamilton is a native of Murfreesboro, TN. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Alabama. After managing a home health agency in Dallas, she pursued a degree in nursing. She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University before joining Health Services in 2006.
Amie Guffey
Nurse Practitioner
Amie Guffey is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2010. She then worked as a Registered Nurse in critical care and also as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Nursing at MTSU. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2014 and has been practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner since this time. She joined MTSU Student Health Services in July 2017.
Vicky England
Registered Nurse
Vicky England, RN, joined Health Services in August 2007. Prior to joining MTSU, she worked over 20 years in critical care in hospital settings. Vicky received her A.D. nursing from Columbia State Community College and her BSN from the University of North Alabama.
Susan McConnell
Registered Nurse
Susan McConnell, RN, joined MTSU Student Health Services on a full-time basis in the fall of 2005. She received her BSN from Tennessee Technology University in 1985. Prior to joining Health Services, she worked in both hospital and primary care office settings. She is BLS and FAA certified.
Melissa Gray
Registered Nurse
Melissa Gray, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in the fall of 2005. She received her nursing degree from the University of Kentucky and has over 20 years of nursing experience in both hospital and home health settings. She maintains BLS certifications.
Leslie Shearon
Registered Nurse
Leslie Shearon, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in August 2011. She also worked at MTSU as a PRN nurse for two years before joining the staff full-time. Prior to working at MTSU , she worked for over 30 years in the operating room at St. Thomas Rutherford. She received her A.D. degree in Nursing from MTSU in 1980 and is BLS certified.
Heather Ashby
Registered Nurse
Heather Ashby, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in Fall 2017 after being PRN since 2012. She received her A.D. degree in Nursing from Motlow State in 2000. Prior to joining MTSU, she has work experiences in both Oncology and Same Day Surgery settings. She maintains BLS certifications.
Abby Rigsby
Registered Nurse
Abby Rigsby RN, Joined Student Health Services full time in 2022, she worked as a PRN since 2019. Abby received her BSN from Middle Tennessee State University in 2017. Prior to joining MTSU Abby had previous experience in the Emergency Department and PACU. Abby remains BLS, ACLS, and PALS certified.
Holly Estes
Registered Nurse
Holly Estes, RN, joined MTSU Health Services in in the fall of 2022. She received her A.D. in Nursing from Motlow State in 2016. Prior to MTSU, Holly was a school nurse for Murfreesboro City Schools and also has experience in well baby and NICU at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. She maintains BLS certifications.
Arielle Bradshaw
Referral Coordinator/Licensed Practical Nurse
Arielle Bradshaw, LPN, joined MTSU Health Services in Summer 2022. Arielle obtained her license in 2019. Prior to joining MTSU, she’s worked in Primary care, long-term care, and has 2 years of administrative experience. She maintains a BLS and IV certification.
Megan Hollis
X-Ray/Lab Technician
Megan Hollis, RT(R), joined Health Services in January 2018. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology from Austin Peay State University. Prior to joining MTSU, she worked in both hospital and urgent care settings.
Tabby Ragland
Pharmacist
Tabby Ragland, Pharm.D. serves as the Director of Pharmacy at Health Services. She joined the staff here in May of 2008. Tabby graduated from the University of Tennessee Memphis with a Pharm.D. degree in 1994. She has had fourteen years of retail pharmacy experience before coming to MTSU.
