Welcome to the Center for Accelerated Language Acquisition (CALA), the official language training operation of the University Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University. Based on research on how the brain learns best, CALA uses methods like TPR (Total Physical Response) and TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) to create an engaging, natural, and fun language-learning experience. Our accelerated language classes are offered as five-day seminars and include Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Latin, and Chinese. We also offer a methodology course to teachers interested in using these advanced methods in their own classroom.  Click the link below for a full listing!
