Accreditation
Standards Showcase
The accreditation requirements, or standards, for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) are outlined in The Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement. The Principles include fourteen sections, with seventy-three principles and standards covering all aspects of the university. For our 2026 Reaffirmation of Accreditation, SACSCOC approved MTSU for Differentiated Review, a streamlined reaffirmation process that requires MTSU to demonstrate compliance with 40 standards rather than all those required by The Principles of Accreditation.
