Job Market Placements
The faculty and staff of the Department of Economics and Finance provide the resources and support needed to place our doctoral candidates as they near graduation. All candidates present their job market paper in our research seminar. These sessions are attended by the faculty and other graduate students. In addition, department faculty aid placement by sending letters of recommendation to potential employers, organizing mock interviews, and offering advice for how to navigate the job market.
The department has a record of placing its students in tenure-track faculty positions at colleges and universities. In recent years our Ph.D. graduates have accepted tenure-track positions as Assistant Professors at Concord University, Randolph College, the State University of New York, and Trevecca Nazarene University. Students who opt for non-academic employment have accepted research positions at the Department of Heath and Human Services and various Tennessee state government organizations.
