MyFit (Individualized Fitness Program)

MyFit is an individualized program that helps you work towards overall wellness by setting goals relating to your current health and wellness, fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle with a Fitness Specialist. Workouts can be designed for any level, from those new to working out to those looking to add their current program.

Each client receives a custom 4-week schedule and workout programs specific to their goals (including cardio, resistance training, and flexibility). They are created specifically for you. We can design programs to be completed at the Rec Center or somewhere else.

How is MyFit different than Personal Training?

Main differences:

  • Lower cost
  • Works around your schedule
  • Location flexibility

It is a custom program you are taught and then complete on your own time, as opposed to scheduling workouts with a trainer. We can also make programs that you can complete at home or your office, whether you have any fitness equipment or not.

Sessions

MyFit is made up of 3 sessions. You will receive and be taught all the exercises during the Program session and you will then complete the workouts on your own. You can set up an accountability method with your Fitness Specialist and you can contact them throughout with any questions.

This session is used to identify your goals, talk about resources and education to help you reach these goals, your likes/dislikes, and your time commitment for a fitness program.

RENEWAL INTAKE (30 MINUTES)

This session is to see what updates you would like to make to your program. This can be modifications or additions to what you already have, or trying a completely new program. This session replaces the Intake for renewing clients.

This session is typically 1 week after your Intake. Your Fitness Specialist will present you with your 4-week fitness program. They will walk you through the progressions and make sure you feel comfortable with the exercises provided. You will complete the program independently, however you can always reach out to your trainer with questions.

Renewing: this session will be for you to discuss any changes you would like to make to your program

Not renewing: your Fitness Specialist will guide you on how to continue your program and other ways to continually work towards wellness.

The Blue Raider Drink Up Grant (BRDU 2.0) is in its second phase and works to promote the health of students on MTSU’s campus. The grant is overseen by MTSU’s Center for Health and Human Services. As part of the grant, 50 MTSU students per academic year can receive a free MyFit Program. The free programs are offered through referrals by various departments and can be given based on student financial needs. Current referrals are made by:

You can visit any of the above office and ask about the referral services. For students that have a financial barrier, you can email [email protected] regarding about getting the program for free. We want all students to be able to access fitness resources and encourage you to take advantage of this amazing opportunity!

All correspondence will come from [email protected].

Personal Training

Personal Training is regularly scheduled 1:1 workouts with a certified Personal Trainer. You will still set goals and be provided workouts to complete outside of the sessions, but this option allows for supervision during scheduled workouts and on-the-spot feedback. This is a great option for those looking for increased accountability and anyone who needs more supervision due to certain medical or health needs.

Sessions

Sessions will be schedule based on a frequency that works for you and your Trainer. Clients can schedule up to 3 times a week, though your trainer will work with you to determine what is best.

The initial Intake Session is complimentary for new clients and does not count toward the sessions purchased.

This session is used to identify your goals, talk about resources and education to help get you reach these goals, your likes/dislikes, and set up when you and your Trainer will meet.

Your Trainer will lead you through workouts at each session, providing feedback and education along the way. You will also get workouts to complete outside of your sessions to ensure you are doing all you can to work towards your goals.

*Most clients schedule 1-hour training sessions, though they can be broken down into 30-minute sessions if your trainer agrees it will be a good fit for you. This would double the amount of sessions (so a 4-pack would be 4 sessions if 1-hour or 8 sessions if 30-minutes).

Students that have registered with the Disabilities and Access Center (DAC) have the chance to work 1:1 with our Personal Training & Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, Caleb, for free. This is available for individuals who do not have experience fitness, want to advance on fitness goals that work for them, or need accessibility assistance during workouts.

Clients typically receive about 8 sessions. Students then can transition to a MyFit program with the opportunity for a free MyFit based on availability from the BRDU grant (see the MyFit tab for details).

Interested students should talk with a DAC staff member to get started.

All correspondence will come from [email protected].

Group Training

Group Training is like Personal Training, but in a group setting. You will still set goals and be provided workouts to complete outside of the sessions. This is a great option for those looking to workout with a buddy or buddies and work with a Personal Trainer at a lower cost.

Groups can be anywhere from 2-4 people. Everyone in the group must have a similar general goal they’d like to work towards and have an interest in the same type of workout. The trainer will lead 1 workout for the whole group. Different abilities and experience levels can be in the same group, as the trainer can provide several options for all exercises.

Sessions

Sessions will be schedule based on a frequency that works for you and your Trainer. See “Costs” below for package options and pricing. The Intake session is free and does not count toward the sessions purchased.

This session is used for your group to identify your goals, talk about resources and education to help get you reach these goals, your likes/dislikes, and set up when the sessions will be.

Your Trainer will lead the group you through workouts at each session, providing feedback and education along the way. You will also get workouts to complete outside of your sessions to ensure you are doing all you can to work towards your goals.

*Most groups schedule 1-hour training sessions, though they can be broken down into 30-minute sessions if your trainer agrees it will be a good fit for you. This would double the amount of sessions (so a 4-pack would be 4 sessions if 1-hour or 8 sessions if 30-minutes).

To assure Group Training is the best fit for your group, you will need to be approved for Group Training before completing an interest form. Approval will be based on your group members having similar goals and interest in the same style of workout. Different abilities and experience levels within a group are welcome.

Interested in Group Training? Email [email protected] to get started.
