Dropping Some But Not All Classes

Before dropping any class, meet with your instructor and the MT One Stop to discuss tools that may help you to stay in the class and do well, such as tutoring, mentoring, study skills and time management workshops, etc. Dropping classes at any point in the semester can have consequences on financial aid, health and personal insurance, campus housing, veteran benefits, and even subsidized housing.

If you drop some but not all classes before the census date (typically the first 14 calendar days of the semester), your aid may be adjusted based on enrollment status. Most types of financial aid are subject to this rule. The Return Calculation is based on the premise that students “earn” federal financial aid for each calendar day that they attend classes. This means that the University may be required to return all or part of your aid to the federal government if you drop a course. You should always contact the MT One Stop before dropping any classes.

Once you have reviewed the fee adjustment information and spoken to the MT One Stop, and you have still decided to withdraw from class(es), follow the procedures below.
