Fee Payment / Confirmation Instructions

You’ve heard over and over, “Don’t forget to confirm your classes.” It comes with an implied ominous warning that if you don’t the sky may fall. It’s worse than that. You’ll lose all of your registered classes. Luckily, it’s easy to confirm.

If your fees are paid in full by financial aid, Federal Direct or PLUS loans, third party, or other credits, you must complete the registration process by confirming that you will attend MTSU for the term. Your balance due must be a Zero or Credit (-) before you can confirm your registration. To confirm you will attend MTSU this term and validate your registration, access PipelineMT by the fee payment / confirmation deadline and do the following: 

  1. Log in to PipelineMT, click on Billing & Payment.
  2. Select Confirm Registration. 
  3. Select the term then click Submit
  4. Your account balance summary and account detail for the term will be displayed. Click ” Yes, I will attend during…” 
  5. Wait for a confirmation number and write it down for your records.

You can make either credit card or check card payments with Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express on PipelineMT.

  1. Log in to PipelineMT, click on Billing & Payment.
  2. Select Pay Registration, Balance or Installment
  3. Select Continue. You will be taken to our bill payment system. 
  4. Create a Multi-Factor Authentication Profile if prompted or verify multi-factor passcode.
  5. Select Make Payment.
  6. Check Current account balance, click Add beside the amount due then scroll down and click Continue.
  7. If you have already saved a payment profile, select your saved payment method under Select Method, click Continue then click Submit Payment.  Otherwise, select Credit or Debit Card then click Continue. NOTE:  Do not choose the Electronic Check method to pay with a debit card.
  8. Enter in credit/debit card number then click Continue. Enter in credit/debit card information (the cardholder billing information must match what the card company/bank has on file or the payment will decline).  If you wish to save the information as a payment profile, check the “Save this payment method for future use” enter in a nickname for the card then click Continue.  Otherwise, click Continue.  Verify your information is correct then click Submit Payment. Wait for payment confirmation.
  9. If you receive an error code of -1777, -1772, or -1698 this means your bank or credit card company is declining the payment.  You either do not have enough funds available; you have a transaction amount limit; or you are entering the card number or expiration date incorrectly. Error code -1724 means that you are not entering an address that matches what your card company has on file for the card holder.  If you receive any other error codes, email [email protected] with the error code along with date and time of payment.

Electronic check payments are sent electronically through the automated clearing house network which moves money between banks electronically.  Your payment information will be submitted through the banking system the following business day.  The funds are not automatically deducted at the point of payment.  Please allow 24-72 hours for the funds to be deducted from your bank account.  If the payment is dishonored (insufficient funds, invalid account number, closed account, account frozen, etc.), a $30 returned check fee will be charged for each payment submitted.  Applicable late fees may apply.  Two or more dishonored checks in a year will prevent payment by electronic check for a year.

  1. Log in to PipelineMT, click on Billing & Payment.
  2. Select Pay Registration, Balance or Installment
  3. Select Continue. You will be taken to our bill payment system. 
  4. Create a Multi-Factor Authentication Profile if prompted or verify multi-factor passcode.
  5. Select Make Payment.
  6. Check Current account balance, click Add beside the amount due then click Continue.
  7. If you have already saved a payment profile, select your saved payment method under Select Method, click Continue. Otherwise, select Electronic Checking (checking/savings) then click Continue.
  8. Select if your account is a savings or a checking account.  Complete the required information for the personal bank account (DO NOT use your bank debit card number).  If you wish to save the payment information, check “Save this payment method for future use” and give the account a nickname.  To allow MTSU to send refunds to this account, click “Send Code” and complete the two-factor authorization. Click Continue.
  9. Verify your information is correct then check “I agree to the above terms and conditions” (a $30 returned check fee will be charged for any payment that is dishonored by the bank).
  10. Click Submit Payment and wait for payment confirmation.

Instructions and information on the Installment Plan (available for fall and spring semesters only)

You may give parents or others access to view and pay your bill online. Once you authorize a user, the user will receive an email with a password and a URL to sign on and set up a personal password. Authorized users can also log in at the Parent/Guardian payment link found at www.mtsu.edu then select Quick Links.

  1. Log in to PipelineMT, click on Billing & Payment.
  2. Select Authorized User Setup icon.
  3. Select Continue.  You will be taken to our bill payment system.
  4. Create a Multi-Factor Authentication Profile if prompted or verify multi-factor passcode.
  5. Select Authorized Users under My Profile Setup.
  6. Select Add Authorized User.
  7. Enter in the Authorized User’s email address and choose if you would like them to view your bill, payment history and/or 1098-T.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Check “I Agree” to the “Agreement to Add Authorized User” then click Continue.
  10. An email will be sent to the Authorized User with their username, password and link to the payment system. 

If you are an authorized user, you will receive an email with a password and a URL to sign on and set up a personal password. Authorized users can also log in through the Parent/Guardian Payment link by selecting Quick Links at www.mtsu.edu.

  1. Log in to Parent/Guardian Payment.
  2. Create a Multi-Factor Authentication Profile if prompted or verify multi-factor passcode.
  3. Select your student if you are an authorized user for multiple students.
  4. Select Make Payment.
  5. Check Current account balance, click Add beside the amount due then click Continue.
  6. Click on the Select Payment Method drop down box then select Credit or Debit Card then click Continue.
  7. Enter in credit/debit card number then click Continue. 
  8. Enter in credit/debit card information then click Continue.
  9. Verify your information is correct then click Submit Payment. 
  10. Wait for payment confirmation.

  1. Log in to PipelineMT, click on Billing & Payment
  2. Select Pay Registration, Balance or Installment
  3. Select Continue. You will be taken to our bill payment system. 
  4. Create a Multi-Factor Authentication Profile if prompted or verify multi-factor passcode.
  5. Click on Make Payment.
  6. Select Pay By Term the click Add by the term with the amount due then scroll down and click Continue.
  7. Select Payment Method and follow payment instructions. 
  8. Wait for payment confirmation. 
  9. If you pay your account in full, your hold should be removed within 15 minutes.  If you have charges for the next semester, your hold will be removed overnight.

If you no longer have access to PipelineMT, please email [email protected] to request information on how to pay a prior balance.

  1. Go to  https://mtsuusd.flywire.com/
  2. Enter the total amount that you would like to pay.
  3. On the next page, chose “Select” after reviewing applicable transfer fees.
  4. Fill In the boxes to provider payer information (creating an account is optional) and then select “Next”.
  5. Fill in the boxes to provide student information and then click “Next”.
  6. Print the Authorization letter and payment instructions.
  7. Take this information to your Bank and have them initiate a wire transfer using the provided routing and account numbers.
  8. Once the wire transfer has been completed, Flywire will communicate with MTSU to ensure that the funds are posted to your account.

*Please note* Flywire will not automatically debit the funds from your bank account. To complete your payment, please be sure to send a wire transfer or an ACH credit transfer from your bank. Your bank will only need to use such details as the account number, routing number and beneficiary name provided on the document you download/ print.

In person:


Fees may be paid at the Business Office cashier windows in the Student Services and Admissions Center located on the 2nd floor. Students must bring their student ID when they come to pay fees in person.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.  The Business Office accepts cash, personal checks, 529 Plan or College Savings checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express (both debit and credit).

Mail-in payment:

Only mail payments by check, money order or cashier’s check made payable to MTSU and include the student’s name and school ID number.

We accept checks made payable to MTSU for 529 Plans and college savings accounts.  The check or check stub must include the student’s school ID (“M number”) and name.

MTSU does not accept EFT or wire transfer payments from 529 Plans unless they are an Ascensus-managed 529 plans.

  1. Go to the Change Password page.
  2. Click on “Students”.
  3. Type in your MTSU ID number (“M#”) and click the Submit button. You can find your M# near the top left of your scholarship award letter; be sure to include the letter M at the beginning!
  4. You should see the personal email address that you listed on your application for admission; part of it will be redacted (or marked out) for your security. Click “Submit” to have an email with a password-setup link sent to that email address.
  5. Click on the link in the email; please note that the link will expire in one hour.
  6. Follow the instructions to enter your M#, accept the technology policy, and enter your new password. Please note that you’ll need to follow specific password rules, for your security.
